Will.I.Am Feat. Barack Obama - ‘Yes We Can’ Music Video | The First Black President?
Something a bit different here on Killed By The Video Star today, with a political music video made to try and encourage youngsters to vote in the forthcoming presidential elections.
I’m British, so the elections are a bit beyond me, although I like what I have heard about and from Barack Obama, and would probably vote for him given the chance.
The song is based on Barack’s Yes We Can speech, with Barack himself providing the majority of the lyrics, and the various celebrities and music artists singing, or rapping along with him.
The video is a simple affair, having Obama giving his speech in one section of the screen, while the stars pop up on a different section.
I don’t know if the choice of black and white is just a stylistic choice, or whether Will.i.am, from the Black Eyed Peas, and main man behind the song, is trying to make a further point by its use.
It’s brilliantly done, and a great way to enthuse young people in to politics, and the difference that their single vote could make. Whether it’s enough to see the USA get its first black president remains to be seen.
