Wiley - ‘Wearing My Rolex (What Would We Do)’ Music Video Review | Foxy Babes Galore
I’ve been quite scathing about both Dance and Hip-Hop on Killed By The Video Star up to now, and with reason too, as both genres tend to be quite shallow, and not very inventive.
However, I’ve hit a problem, as I kind of like this tune, Wearing My Rolex by Wiley, as even though it combines elements of Dance and Rap, and steals the bassline from Luciana, it is still pretty hot.
That’s not to say I’d go out and buy it, but if I were in a club and this came on, I would have to get up out of my seat, and leave my beer at the table. Not to walk out, but to get up and dance.
The song has a decent beat to it, with that ever present pulsing rhythm which you can’t help but allow in to your psyche. And Wiley’s distinctive London accented rapping comes washing gloriously over the top.
The video features women dressed as foxes. My take on it was that these are the foxes who endeavour to get their claws in to men on nights out, and end up wearing their Rolexes. Or it could just be that Wiley is scared of the little critters.
Okay, so it still has ladies in it, but they are dressed as foxes, so that’s got to count for something when discussing inventiveness surely?!?
Song: 8/10
Video: 6/10
