Weezer - ‘Buddy Holly’ Music Video Review | A Case For Bringing Back Happy Days?

by Dave Parrack on April 12th, 2008

It’s Saturday, so time for a bit of old skool to get highlighted. Here we have Weezer with the brilliant Buddy Holly.

I’ve already expressed my love for Weezer, when I reviewed The Sweater Song, and I love this song and video even more than I do that one.

The song has an unswervingly raucous feel to it, with nothing done half heartedly, and nothing watered down for mainstream radio friendly play.

The Rock instruments and Rivers Cuomo’s voice work perfectly together to build it up slowly to a rip-roaring conclusion which leaves you feeling satisfied and sated.

The video obviously uses the classic Happy Days set and characters, and does it brilliantly well.

We get to see Weezer performing in Al’s Diner, where Richie, Ralph and the others are sat watching the band play. We even get to see Fonzie doing a little jig.

The effects were brilliant in their day, and while this song may be 15 years old now, they still hold up to this day. They don’t make them like this any more!

Song: 10/10
Video: 10/10
