Vampire Weekend - ‘A-Punk’ Music Video Review | An Antidote To Boring R’n'B?

by Dave Parrack on March 10th, 2008

Vampire Weekend are an Indie band from New York who were recommended to me over the weekend by one of my friends, and here is their current single A-Punk.

I’m glad I got turned on to this band so early in their career, as they rock. Straight away they remind me of a British bands called The Futureheads, which is never a bad thing.

This song is brilliant, being kooky and inventive, but still maintaining enough traditional elements of guitar music to make it mainstream.

The video is even better, with the band not so much playing the song, but performing it in an avant garde style which suits the song brilliantly.

I really hope these guys hit it big, as they have a pretty unique style, and are a great antidote to the humourless R’n'B crap that seems to be in the ascendency right now.

Song: 8/10
Video: 9/10
Being Different: 10/10
