The best way for me to begin any sort of assessment of this video is to refer to the words of fellow critic Stardancer11. In this video’s YouTube comments, she draws the following conclusion: “GOOD CHARLOTTE R THE BEST BAND.”

For someone who has chosen to give themselves a name that a My Little Pony would be embarrassed to have, the metaphor here is surprisingly deep. What Stardancer has done is given us a seemingly almost random collection of symbols chosen from the English alphabet, arranged in such a way that the result appears to be similar to a sentence, albeit one that might be spoken by an amnesiac Ukranian man who washes up on the beach with only the most basic grasp on the English language.

Good Charlotte takes a similar approach to the collections of sounds they release every other year or so, and has employed the same technique for this video. They apparently hired someone to bring a camera to a location where they would be standing around with their instruments. I’m not sure this person was trained in how to use a camera, or if the band knew what they were supposed to be doing, but they certainly put music over the pictures and sent it to TV stations!

Also, I can’t quite put my finger on it…but doesn’t Benji (or is it Joel? Or am I less a person for caring?) look like someone in this video? Hmm…who could it be?

Oh yea, I remember!

Someone should probably check on the political affiliations of his stylist immediately…
