The Ting Tings - ‘That’s Not My Name’ Music Video Review | New British Alternative
This is an old song which has just been re-released in the UK by The Ting Tings, a fairly new British alternative/indie pop/dance band comprising of Jules De Martino and Katie White.
That’s Not My Name didn’t even chart the first time around but since they’ve now got some airplay and mainstream press, the band are trying again.
Being only a two-piece makes for an interesting sound. In the same way that The White Stripes are pretty unique and have a highly original sound, so do The Ting Tings.
That’s not to say they’re as good as The White Stripes, they’re not, but they do have an interesting sound nonetheless.
The singer has a good voice although at times it puts me slightly on edge for some reason. The song is quite minimalistic, but has a brilliantly catchy chorus.
The video doesn’t comprise of much either, just the band performing the song with some light effect thrown in for good measure. I wish the drummer would drop the sunglasses though, does he think he’s Tom Cruise in Top Gun?
Song: 7/10
Video: 5/10
