The Kooks - ‘Always Where I Need To Be’ Music Video Review | Americanised Enough?
British band The Kooks are continuing their mission to become completely Americanised, as can be witnessed in this, their latest video for Always Where I Need To Be.
As a big British music fan, as anyone who regularly reads Brit Music Scene will know, I find it sad when home-grown artists feel the need to change themselves to appeal more overseas.
Having said that, I know America is where the money is, so what Estelle, Natasha Bedingfield, and now The Kooks are doing is totally understandable.
This song is the first from new album Konk, and carries on where they left off, with a very catchy tune hiding some very true to life lyrics.
If done right, Indie Pop has the capacity to be the best music out there, and The Kooks seem to be able to produce top quality songs of the genre without breaking a sweat.
The video is pretty dull, but it does what any video after a band takes a while away should do: Introduce you to the band all over again, and show what they are up to.
Which in the case of The Kooks is swanning around on rooftops in the USA. Good luck to them.
Song: 8/10
