Spice Girls - ‘Headlines’ (Friendship Never Ends) | Actually It Quite Clearly Does…
I’ve already featured this God awful video on Brit Music Scene, but I couldn’t resist having a more in depth look at it here on Killed By The Video Star as well.
I actually welcomed The Spice Girls reunion as unlike some of the others which have happened this year, I felt it had some momentum behind it, with fans actually wanting the girls to get back together.
The world tour sale went really well, and then we got to the point where we needed to see some new material from the girls, and it all went horribly wrong.
The song is average at best, with none of the immediacy of some of their pop classics from the first time around. It drones on, not really getting anywhere, never reaching a conclusion.
And then there’s the video, which sucks ass.
Apparently this video shoot took hours, with the girls all getting agitated, and annoyed with each other. Why it took so long I have no idea, as it looks like it could have been filmed in the space of ten minutes by two trash men using a hand-held camera.
They were obviously going for the classy look, with all the girls dressed in modern grown up outfits. No Baby cuteness, Scary scariness or lesbianism from Mel C on display here. Although, Geri is still ginger, and Posh Spice is still a silly trout-faced old moose with a pout which could kill a man at a thousand paces.
The video is nothing more than the girls all singing to camera while looking slightly away, an old trick which achieves absolutely nothing. And then we get them writhing (read dancing), and in Victoria Beckham’s case pouting in an attempt to look sexy.
Absolute crap, and if their second comeback single and video aren’t a lot better then expect the comeback tour to be a farewell tour instead.

To think I had almost successfully avoided hearing it until I had to check how accurate your comments were. You are a cruel person!
