Sean Kingston - ‘Me Love’ | Catchier Than ‘Beautiful Girls’ So Why Do I Hate It?
Sean Kingston is one of those weird artists that although he does nothing inherently wrong, I still can’t stand him. Beautiful Girls was massively successful, yet I was never a convert, and now we have Me Love.
The song is okay, and actually more catchy than Beautiful Girls was, but I still hate it regardless of all the reasons telling me I shouldn’t.
Maybe it’s just the fact that I hate most watered down genres of music, and Sean Kingston is one of the worst examples of that: He’s reggae, but he’s also a pop hoare who tries to appeal to everyone who’ll listen.
Or maybe the video will be able to explain why I’m not a fan: It’s how he looks. I’m not talking about his weight… much, it’s more the gormless look he always wears on his face.
He looks so inertly happy, and for no reason, and that just winds me (as a miserable old git) up.
And then there is his weight. Now before, you judge me, I’m overweight, it’s what you get for spending 6 hours a day writing blog posts at a computer, but I’m not trying to be a pop star.
I’m not saying larger people shouldn’t be musicians, but there’s just something about Sean Kingston that doesn’t sit well with me. Maybe it’s because he sings about shagging loads of women, when in reality, you know that if he wasn’t famous, he’d only get action once a year, and the girl would be mortally drunk too.
The video is the normal crap for this kind of song, there’s nothing which makes it stand out against any other in the genre. Just get off my goggle box, and go back to being a no-one… please!
