Roni Size & Reprazent - ‘Brown Paper Bag’ Video Review | Best Drum’n'Bass Video Ever
Watching this video takes me back to the old skool, when I was more in to dance music and Drum’n'Bass than the Indie and Rock that I’m in to now.
I would assume a lot of people won’t have ever seen this video, heard the song, or even know of Roni Size, but after seeing this, I guarantee that if you are in to this type of music at all, you’ll seek more out by him.
The song is innovative, especially as it was one of the first D’n'B songs I ever heard. But even in the glut of songs from that genre, it’s still original, even now.
The video meanwhile, is one of the best, if not THE best videos from this genre I’ve ever seen. It’s a simple concept, but works fantastically well.
It was all filmed in Toronto, Canada, and shows various scenes happening altogether: An argument in a house, a convenience store robbery, a basketball match, and more besides.
Roni Size is late for his plane, and so uses what can only be described as a magic egg timer, or a time turner from Harry Potter.
This puts the whole world, apart from him, and people he comes in to contact with, in a kind of freeze frame, and lets him get to the airport on time… much to the confusion of his mate waiting for him.
It’s a brilliant video, to accompany a brilliant song, and another one I never get sick of watching.
Song: 7/10
