Richard Hawley - ‘Valentine’ Video Review | A Heartwarming Video For Valentine’s Day
With it being Valentine’s Day today, I couldn’t resist reviewing this song by Richard Hawley, which is perfect for the day, with both the title, and the lyrics summing up the meaning of Valentine perfectly.
Richard Hawley, for those who don’t know, is a British singer songwriter, who has been in various bands, but more recently has taken to releasing his own albums.
This song, Valentine, is his latest, from his current album Lady’s Bridge. It features his usual style of old skool crooning, which sounds vaguely old fashioned in this day and age, but also, whether due to nostalgia, or not, works extremely well.
The song is clearly about a relationship that’s over, and ended, although the video makes it look more specifically like an older person looking back on a long lost relationship, maybe with someone who died prematurely.
The video itself is bizarre, with young people playing old aged pensioners for no reason that I can think of whatsoever.
It does however make for a very humorous yet heart-warming little detour on a day which is set aside for love, and celebrating the people who would miss terribly if they were no longer there.
Song: 7/10
