Queens Of The Stone Age - ‘Make It Wit Chu’ | Kissy Kissy Wissy Wissy
The Queens Of The Stone Age seem to have emerged with a softer, quieter sound, and I’m not sure if I like it. I don’t mind the occasional love song, but when it comes from a band who I think of as hard rocking, hard drinking lads, it just doesn’t float my boat.
That’s not to say this is a bad song, but it’s been recorded by the wrong band!
The leas singer Josh Homme is such a big guy, I want to see him strumming his guitar like his life depends on it, rather than singing in a mushy way.
I actually like the video, okay, it’s a bit like the Alicia Keys video in that nothing much happens, but at least with this one, SOME things do happen.
It’s also filmed much better, with some great lighting, which is all very atmospheric, showing a sunset type setting, which is the perfect way to display the band, and the kissing couples faces.
The first half of the video is all about the band, showing them playing, although they seem to be wearing pimp daddy style clothing for some reason.
Once the sun goes down, and the video moves in to its second half, we get a bit of a party going on, as couple turn up to snog.
It’s done subtly, which suits me much better than a full on face clamping with body parts here, and body parts there.
A video which suits the song, but a song which doesn’t really suit the band.
