Killed By The Video Star

Puff Daddy (P Diddy) Feat. Jimmy Page - ‘Come With Me’ Video Review From Godzilla

by Dave Parrack on December 29th, 2007

The film Godzilla was a bit poo to be honest, even though it had a seemingly brilliant cast, including Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno, but the soundtrack was awesome.

This song, Come With Me by P. Diddy, who at the time called himself Puff Daddy, is one of the best, especially as it’s based on the Led Zeppelin song Kashmir, and features Jimmy Page on guitar!

The song is excellent, building on the not to be improved riff from Kashmir, and adding layers of orchestral sounds and then a nice topping of P Diddy laying down some of his finest rapping.

The way the whole thing builds from a relatively quiet beginning to a rip roaring crescendo is awesome, and makes it one of the best songs Diddy has ever made.

The video is also awesome, using, as most of the big songs from the soundtrack do, footage from the film, interspersed with Diddy and Jimmy Page performing.

Diddy isn’t the strongest actor in the world, but he just about manages to pull off the action sequences. He’s at his best however, when he is controlling the orchestra, almost conducting them to the last note.

It’s brilliant, and actually lives up to its billing, and obviously big budget. The only blot against its name is the fact that Puff Daddy dresses up in white, trying to be a messiah to the masses. Now now, don’t go all Michael Jackson on our asses.

Song: 9/10
Video: 10/10
