Nelly Feat. Fergie - ‘Party People’ Music Video Review | At Least The Plaster Has Gone
I’ve never liked Nelly, in fact, I’d go as far as to say I used to hate him. Not any longer though, not because he’s got any better, or because I’ve mellowed out in my old age, it’s purely because he’s got rid of the stupid plaster he used to wear on his cheek.
That does make a surprising amount of difference when I see his ugly mug. I always used to want to rip it off his face and call him a prat. I now just want to call him a prat.
This is his new single, which is a collaboration with Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. It’s a weird combination of Hip-Hop and shouty mosh type noise which kinds of remind me of Christina Aguilera’s Ugly, just without Christina, and her leather chaps.
The song is okay, at least in small bursts, and at least until Nelly starts rapping. This may be his song, but what ruins it is him and his ludicrous attempts at sounding decent. That’s not a good fact to have on your resume.
And the video is even worse. The only light relief in the whole 4 minutes is seeing Fergie cavorting around in not much clothing. Apart from that, it’s a mess.
It’s like they just decided to film the crowd at a sporting event, and stuck a green screen of Nelly doing his thing over the top of it. Which, as you’ve probably guessed by now, isn’t a good combination.
