Natasha Bedingfield - ‘Pocketful Of Sunshine’ Music Video Review | Repetitive Drivel
I was never a fan of Natasha Bedingfield when she was over here in the UK plying her trade. Her first album was okay but it wasn’t really my cup of tea.
Now, she has disappeared over to the States to find her (larger) fortune and fame, and unbelievably, the quality of music she’s producing has gone down yet another notch.
I reviewed her collaboration with Sean Kingston a while back, and despite me hating both artists, I thought the song was okay. And now Bedingfield is back, minus her fat, untalented sidekick.
The song is called Pocketful Of Sunshine, and it’s meant to be some kind of feel good hit for the summer, with jolliness and happy thoughts plastered all over it. Personally, it just makes me want to vomit.
Her voice is squeaky and annoying, the lyrics are dubious to the extreme, and while the notion of being able to remove yourself to your happy place is a good one, she’s turned the whole thing in to a cheesefest.
The video, if possible, is even worse. The effects are poor, there is virtually no storyline, and her grinning face makes me want to slap someone, preferably her.
Maybe I’m just a miserable git, but I don’t like having enforced cheeriness shoved down my throat all the time. And it’s made a million times worse by the fact that Natasha is doing the shoving.
Song: 3/10
Video: 2/10
