Metallica - ‘One’ Music Video Review | Best Metallica Line-Up And Song Ever!

by Dave Parrack on July 29th, 2008

I’m not too keen on Metallica’s newer stuff, but there’s no doubting the quality of this song. One is almost 20 years old now, and still stands up to scrutiny as one of the best Metallica songs ever.

Maybe it’s because they were young and fresh, you know, before they got their knickers in a twist about Napster, and starting releasing crap. Or maybe it’s because the line-up at this time was brilliant.

The song is made up of very heavy lyrics by lead singer James Hetfield, along with some brilliant solos by Kirk Hammett. The whole thing sits together really well, and despite its length, it keeps you interested throughout.

The video is actually quite simply done, but works brilliantly as a result. It shows a combination of footage of the band playing live in a disused warehouse, and clips from the film adaptation of Johnny Got His Gun.

I’m getting increasingly in to metal music, mainly due to my love of Megadeth (a dirty word in a review of a Metallica song) and the fact that Guitar Hero showed me the way. And this is one of my favourite metal songs of all time… it kicks ass.

BLASPHEMY!!! Best Line up…no. Good line up, yes. Jason Newstead did a good job trying to fill Cliff Burton’s shoes but no one will ever be able to truely fill them. Great review.
