Matchbox Twenty Teaches American History
Matchbox Twenty
“How Far We’ve Come”
Album: Exile In the Mainstream
How much cooler would history class be if Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas taught it? Way cooler. And short. Really, really short. 1960’s to now? Give him three minutes; it’s pretty simple. It started with some people marching around a lot. It ended with fireworks. In the middle, more people marched around, and when they weren’t marching, they were at parades.
American Revolution to 1960’s? Same thing, except at one point we killed all the Indians.
You know what’s really spectacular about this video though? That hat the rhythm guitarist is wearing. Is it a fishing hat? A pith helmet? A design rejected by Devo as “too soft and brown”? Whatever it is, I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

Number of hats like that in existence: 2, and the other will soon be mine.

You know, as luck would have it, I’m a member of the Matchbox Twenty fanclub. That means they tell you weird stuff that you don’t really need to know, like where to buy that hat.

$125 is a whole lot of cash for a hat, but there it is.
