Mariah Carey - ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ Video Review | Santa Claus Gets Laid!
Continuing on the Christmas trend, with what is, despite my attempts to hate it, one of my favourite Christmas songs. Even the video is fairly decent too!
This was back when Mariah Carey was good, before she attempted to become some hip hop ho, and just concentrated on the singing, and quality divaness she has now made an artform.
The lyrics are cheesy, although that’s to be expected, as if you can show me a Christmas hit which doesn’t have some sort of sentimental edge to it, I’ll give you a peanut.
Mariah’s voice is the thing which holds this song together, being the instrument which comes in to its own during the verses.
The video is pretty standard fayre, showing Mariah messing about with Santa (hence the title of this post), walking in the snow, and seeming to help some dogs decorate the tree.
It stands the test of time really well, and if this comes on the television during those annual Best Christmas Songs Ever, or Christmas Cracker Videos, or whatever, you just can’t help but keep watching, and more importantly smile.
Well done Mariah, you have truly made a video which is ensured of being shown and enjoyed for at least a month every year. Now, stop being a bit mad, drop the outrageous demands, and record another classic like this.
