Madonna - ‘Vogue’ Music Video Review | Before She Became British & All Weird
Okay, she might be neither British or “all weird” still, but she’s certainly changed since the time that Vogue came out, and seemed to be everywhere all at once.
This song was the Umbrella of its day, meaning you couldn’t go in a restaurant or shop without hearing it. Then you’d go to a club or a friend’s party and there it would be again.
The difference is, this song, and Madonna, have more lasting appeal than Rihanna ever will, and at least she doesn’t resort to using a sample on every single song she releases.
The song itself is brilliantly paced and produced, with Madonna’s talent really shining through against the quite harsh beat. Even though its years old, Vogue wouldn’t be out of place if it were released today for the first time.
The video too is one of those that doesn’t come along very often, being completely tantalising and making you watch right to the end.
It’s also one of the most parodied videos ever, but all that does is add weight to its importance in the history of music videos.
The only problem for Madonna is that I doubt she’ll ever produce something quite so brilliant and long lasting ever again. But I could be wrong.
