Linkin Park - ‘Hands Held High’ Music Video | 9/11 and Iraq War Footage Video
Something a bit different today on Killed By The Video Star, with a song by Linkin Park from last year, but not with the official video, rather one made by a YouTube user.
This song didn’t really do very well when it was released last year, maybe due to the subject matter, maybe due to the limited release, but it’s an important song.
Linkin Park have tackled some tricky subjects in their music in the past, but none quite so complicated and mind boggling as the issues surrounding 9/11 and the Afghanistan and Iraq wars which followed.
The band take a story driven approach to the issues, telling of personal experiences and different viewpoints. The song therefore comes across as very intense.
The video is nicely edited using footage from Michael Moore’s equally controversial Fahrenheit 9/11, his take on the atrocity and the excuse it gave for warmongering.
I normally stick to official videos on this site, but after spotting this on Digg I thought it worth a look. Both the song and video provide important insights i to what ordinary Americans think of what is happening in their name.
Song: 8/10
