Kanye West - ‘Flashing Lights’ Music Video Review | Pulsing Synth Pop Goodness

by Dave Parrack on April 23rd, 2008

Kanye West seems to have turned in to collaboration man lately, only being able to release songs if someone else is there with him holding his hand.

But now, he’s back on his own, and with a single that shows the man has more talent in his right pinky than a swathe of the current breed of rappers have in their whole body.

The pulsing rhythm which creates the backdrop for Kanye’s vocals is spectacularly good, and as Unreality Music attests, makes the song different than anything West has done before.

Although I normally hate videos which use half dressed women to sell the song, I can’t complain about the use of it here, especially as it’s not the only thing in the video. That woman is gorgeous, and the shot of her walking away from the fire is awesome.

The video may be simple, but with the assumed scenario of Kanye getting spaded to death in the boot of a car, it’s also pretty damn original.

Song: 8/10
Video: 7/10
