Friday the 13th: It’s Your Lucky Day

by ccullari on July 13th, 2007

So it’s Friday the 13th–a day that is near and dear to my heart. A day, second to only last year’s 6-6-06, that is all about curling up with horror movies and blood red beverages and about cutting the brakes on your best friend’s car and feeling OK about it because, well, it’s just that special kind of day.

Of course, I wasn’t about to let this day pass with out any kind of recognition on the blog. I knew I needed to come up with something special for you guys today, but what? I could go for the Halloween: Dance Remix, but that’s most certainly for a different holiday. Then there’s the theme song from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors, but, seeing as Jason and Freddy are mortal enemies, why give the big man’s day to Freddy?

That, dear readers, is when I found it.

At first, it seemed to be only myth. Somewhere online, the rumors claimed, a video exists that simultaneously celebrates the awful ludicrousness of 80’s hair, cock rock, Alice Cooper and the release of Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives! I searched far and wide, and came up empty handed–finding nothing but piles of gold and fair, but most definitely impure, maidens.

Just as I was about to give up, to retreat to a world where the video exists only only in whispers and the wet dreams of people who enjoy terrible blue screen effects and CATS inspired dance numbers featuring Alice Cooper wearing a makeup test for The Crow, I found a lead. Sensing victory, I leapt upon the back of my white steed, YouTuberus, and rode him deep into a wicked kingdom.

What I brought out hasn’t been seen for decades. I humbly present to you…

This video is one of the few elements of human existence that transcends such absolute notions as “good” and “bad.” Instead, it exists in its own relativistic bubble, wherein every item presented is simultaneously terribly awesome and awesomely terrible, immune to both external judgments and what appears to be triple-decker-anachronism powered by some sort of Doc Brown-engineered synthesizer.

The meaning of life is here, somewhere, hiding amongst the frames of film, but I would venture to say that searching for said meaning, which would invariably involve viewing this philosophical quagmire more than a hundred times, would, upon completion, melt one’s eyeballs with the power of rock.

Oh my gosh. How flipping old school are you. I haven’t even thought about this in years. I remember all the hype about it though; now that I see it again. Too funny.
