Fragma - ‘Toca’s Miracle’ Music Video Review | Another Crappy Dance Re-Release
What the hell is happening with dance tunes these days? Is releasing them once not enough for anyone? It seems they all have to be released multiple times, often years apart.
We’ve already seen it happen with the Utah Saints re-releasing Something Good. Basically the same song as the original, just speeded up for the 2008 crew.
And now we have Fragma doing the same with Toca’s Miracle, which was a big hit on the club scene when it was originally released in the halcyon days of 2000.
Basically, what we get again is a slightly different version of the song, although still instantly recognisable, just with less originality, and made slightly worse by the changes. Great. Well done guys.
Dance is a weird genre in this way as you don’t see it happen in any other field of music. Sure, Hip-Hop artists sample old tracks all the time, but they are creating something new from old, this is just old from old.
The song isn’t bad for people who have never heard it before, and certainly has the ability to get even the most lazy person (me) up dancing in a club, but it’s a case of been there, done that.
The video follows the set rules for dance promos: Lots of semi-naked girls cavorting around to the beat, hopefully taking viewers minds off the fact that there isn’t really much going on with the song.
Song: 6/10
Video: 3/10
