Evanescence - ‘Bring Me To Life’ Music Video Review | Operatic Rock At Its Finest
It’s the end of April, yes, another month has gone by. So I thought I’d take us back in time a little while for today’s review, with Bring Me To Life by Evanescence.
This is like a genre all to itself, with a strong operatic voice singing over the top of some classic rock guitars. Call it Operatic Rock, or Rock Opera, Rockpera or even OpRock, although that last one sounds like a medical procedure.
I wasn’t a big fan of this song when it first came out five whole years ago because I wanted it to decide what it was. I tend to like Rock music when it’s sung by men. I’m not sexist though, give me a girl guitarist over a male one any day - they’re sexy.
But, this is still played on the radio and everywhere you turn to this day, meaning it’s kind of crept up and forced me to like it, purely by stalking me in my everyday life.
It also means that the members of Evanescence will have a hefty pension fund waiting for them in old age, even if they never have another big hit, which they probably won’t do.
The video is worth watching just for a glimpse of Amy Lee, yeah she’s hot. It also has some nice moments to it, especially her falling to her death. It’s okay, it’s just a dream!
Song: 9/10
Video: 8/10
