Bjork - ‘Wanderlust’ Music Video Review | High Art In Comparison To Soulja Boy
The last few weeks have been quite tricky for me here on Killed By The Video Star, mainly because the videos that I was reviewing all tended to be uninspiring pieces of crap.
There were a few gems of course, and I travelled back in time a little bit to ensure not every review was a negative one, but all in all, it’s been depressing.
All I wanted was a bit of originality, just something away from the norm, out of the ordinary, and not just some sports cars, half naked women, and a dull performance to camera.
The along comes Bjork, with her new single, Wanderlust, which takes originality and beats it around the head a few times until it begs for mercy.
The song is very much in keeping with Bjork’s current style, exhibiting both her unique vocal style, and frenetic alternative dance undertones. But it’s the video which really achieves greatness.
Just watch it, and wonder how this can be mentioned in the same breath as any of the current R’n'B clones doing the rounds, or the energy sapping pop crap which costs nothing to produce. This is high art in comparison.
That’s not to say I understand it, because quite frankly I don’t. From the doppelgänger in the rucksack, to the Godly hands at the end, it makes absolutely no sense to me. But it doesn’t actually matter.
The visual imagery, and the concept kept me engaged throughout and I watch all seven minutes of this obscure little video. That means it is utter genius.
Song: 7/10
Video: 10/10
