Akon Feat. T-Pain - ‘I Can’t Wait’ Music Video Review | A Car & Some Girls… Whoop!
I’ve got so much to say about this song, the crappy video which accompanies it, Akon being a talentless fool, and the emergence of T-Pain as “the guy who can’t have a hit by himself”.
Let’s start with Akon. He came to mine, and most people’s attention with Lonely, that song which had him accompanying what sounded like Tweety on vocals.
At the time, we in the UK had the Crazy Frog ring tone phenomenon going on, and I even preferred that shit to the song.
Now he’s back, and he’s brought T-Pain along, who we’ve already seen ruining Flo Rida’s Low. He’s also brought his friend the vocoder along, which manages to make them sound like their hitting notes exactly.
That seems to be the in thing at the moment, with Janet Jackson also overusing it. Do they not all realise we know they’re only using it to hide the fact they are talentless?
On to the song itself, which is neither Hip Hop, R’n'B, or Dance, but a mish-mash of all three. It could have worked, but then Akon is involved so it doesn’t.
It’s generic, boring, and just barely passes three minutes of your time. The lyrics could have been written by a twelve year old, which is clearly what Akon’s mental age is.
Lastly, and definitely least, is the video. What to do when you know your song sucks ass? Well, just stick a classic car in the video, and feature a few girls, and no-one will be listening to the track.
That really is all they’ve done, apart from have T-Pain sit at the piano doing his best Stevie Wonder impersonation. At least try a little bit… for the love of God!
