Even though I’m not a big fan of R’n’B, I’ve always had a soft spot for Alicia Keys. She seems to be the best in her genre with more talent in her little finger than Rihanna has in her whole body.
This song is great, very much getting back to the grass roots sound of Alicia […]

This video is an absolute classic, and deserved to be praised as highly as it was, and given as many awards as it received. The song is strange taken on its own, but weirdly the video makes it all work perfectly, and melds the whole things together in to a perfect alternative, almost experimental blend.
Whenever […]

This song, and subsequent video is over a year old now, but it deserves a review in light of the fact that the lyrics are more relevant to the Amy Winehouse story now than ever before.
The song is amazing, there’s no doubt about it, and it deserved to be Winehouse’ breakthrough hit. It has […]

This video was recommended to me by Allison Boyer, who will keep you up to date on all the latest college football news over at BCS Frenzy. She actually described it to me as “The most country country video ever” and I have to agree.
The song is pure country, with that intense rhythm and some […]

I’ve already featured this God awful video on Brit Music Scene, but I couldn’t resist having a more in depth look at it here on Killed By The Video Star as well.
I actually welcomed The Spice Girls reunion as unlike some of the others which have happened this year, I felt it had some momentum […]

I’m not a big fan of country music, finding it all a bit fluffy and over the top, but the odd song does leak through to my subconscious, and this version of Kelly Clarkson’s Because Of You by Reba McEntire (with support from Clarkson herself) is one such example.
Maybe it’s the song rather than the […]

Travis are one of my favourite British bands of all time, and probably the best thing to come out of Scotland since, well Scotch Whisky.
This song, Flowers In The Windows, is off the album The Invisible Band, and is a slow, melodic track which makes me and probably you too smile inside.
But we, of […]

Kanye West is obviously in the news at the moment, due to the sudden and unexpected death of his mother. I feel really bad for the guy, because not only is that a terrible experience, he’s doing it under the full gaze of the media, and while trying to complete a world tour.
But, that doesn’t […]

I like a bit of Linkin Park from time to time. Yes I know all their songs sound very samey, seeming to follow a blueprint that the band found out worked and so stuck with it, but I don’t care, they rock. Well usually they do, expect for with this song, where they’ve tried what […]

As you might have already guessed by the lack of posting recently, Chris has unfortunately left ‘Killed By The Video Star‘. He’s a busy guy, and well blogs need constant love and attention, so instead of treating this one like a ragged old cat that no-one wanted to pet, he decided to let me adopt […]
